Dear prayer partners,
Last week we heard a proverb from a Korean herbal medicine doctor that greatly encouraged and challenged us. The original in Korean is more poetic, but the translation basically goes: "A hawk is not a hawk if it cannot catch and eat its prey." No matter how gracefully a hawk may fly about in the sky, it is not a hawk unless it can scoop down and snatch a mouse or a chick. In the same way, a doctor is not a true doctor if he cannot heal people. It doesn't matter where he received his degree, how comfortable his office is or how tech savvy his website is…if he cannot heal his patients, then he is not a doctor. It reminded us of our calling as missionaries to Muslims. No matter how much training we have received, if we cannot bring Muslims to Jesus Christ or start a church and raise up leaders (Matthew 28:19,20), then we are not missionaries.
1. Please pray for us as we continue to seek the Lord's guidance concerning our future. Whatever we do, we want to stay faithful to our calling.
2. Pray that God would continue to raise up future laborers as we visit campus ministries and share our testimonies. WE will be visiting Univ of MD (Baltimore), Rutgers U
niv, and possibly GWU and Princeton Univ over the next few weeks.
3. Praise God for a fruitful and life-enriching urban missions trip for Joniel this past week. He and a handful of other U Va students spent most of their spring break ministering at an education center in Southeast DC. Joniel was encouraged to see the staff at the center model Christ to the community around them.
4. Pray also for Faith's sister (Esther) and her family. They are missionaries to Japan and live just outside Tokyo. They are unharmed, but they ask for prayer as they reach out to the Japanese people around them after the massive earthquake and tsunami.
